MY EXPEREINCE OF SNEHASADNA AS A HOUSE PARENT
Snehasadan is not just an institution but it is a family to me. This family has variety of Children. Though, they all profess different religions, have different ethnicity, come from varied situations yet happily reside under one roof. These children are like flowers with different colors in the garden. They are tossed by the storms in life but in Snehasadan they discover new and bright future ahead. My husband and I are fortunate to be chosen as the House Parents of Snehasadan House No. 5. There are 18 boys here from 7 years old to 18 years old. All are enrolled in schools. They go to 4 different school. I feel privilege to take care of these boys. I took this responsibility just a year ago; therefore, there are many child friendly practices that I need to learn. There is a lot of support from the social workers, other house parents and the Fathers. They make me aware about my responsibilities as a House Mother towards the children. I strongly believe that there will be a positive difference in my life as well as lives of these children if I have a good bonding with them. In this one year I have observed this fact. I want to impart motherly care, compassion and love to these children so that do not hesitate in sharing their daily struggles with me. I do not want them feel alone. Often, they go through the feeling of rejection. I want them feel that they am there for them. They are not without support; my husband and I are there for them as their parents. I love this new role as a House Parent in Snehasadan House No. 5.
